A first

O.K. Its been a while since I last blogged. Almost two weeks I suppose. But I have been having a writer’s block wondering what to write about next. So this time I have decided that I will write a critique. I am going to start off with who else but J.K.Rowling and her magical world. I saw the first two movies without reading the books and I did not understand anything. It was all greek and latin to me. Out of sheer boredom I started reading the first book which my friend had lent to me. Little did I realize that the very same boredom would lead to my addiction for the next 6 7 years. While the first book was good as a standalone it was probably a little too childish for an 18-year-old. The second was also good but it was not all that surprising as I had already seen the movie. But the third to the seventh book was a magical ride for me. Amazing. The best part about these books is the fact that plot – lines from different timelines are linked together beautifully. I usually get totally immersed in to any book once I start reading it. I try to envisage that am viewing the entire story as one amongst the infinite characters. The feeling that I get when I read any Potter book is the same. The ending of the entire series might have been a bit too heroic/cliched for me. I was kind of expecting an ending in which Harry dies. But somehow! The surprises, plot twists, somehow the reading is magical, yet cerebral. That is the sort of work I enjoy. Be it movies. Be it books.

  1. But for how the book ends I love the book. And just like you I picked up the book since I was in the library and saw all 6 books (7th was not out back then) on a shelf. Having heard so much about the book I picked all of them just to see what the noise was about. I had not even seen the movies..well had seen one in parts off and on, on TV. Loved the books..

  2. Mine is the other way round.
There is so much to write, but I like to keep some gap in between blogs. ……. no point in flooding.
